Annapurna Base Camp Trekking
Introduction:
The route to the Annapurna sanctuary trek in the western part of Nepal The site of the Annapurna South Face Base Camp is a spectacular short trek. Though it has some steep climbs, the trek is not difficult, and traverses a variety of terrain, from lowland villages and rice terraces to glaciers, with outstanding high mountain views. This is a fine opportunity to surround you with Himalayan peaks in a short time, without having to contend with the altitude and flight problems of the Everest region. The ring of impressive crystalline Himalayan ranges of the Annapurna range is considered by the Nepalese as a "Sanctuary", a place where the gods live. The impressive trek leads us from the terraced farmland above Pokhara on good trails through scattered settlements and abundant forest, following the high ridge of Ghorepani. We take a good chance to visit famous view point Poon Hill, to see the classic Himalaya sunrise view as well the panoramic mountain views including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) to the west. We trek continue through ancient oak and rhododendron forest, across sparkling streams and past waterfalls, the world of snow and ice starts to unfold above us. The trail of Modi Khola valley leads us to the sanctuary as the gorge widens, we ascend to Machapuchre Base Camp (3,700m) on the lateral moraine of Annapurna South glacier. The steady climb up to ABC reveals the full splendor of this natural amphitheater. When we reach our destination, we are spoilt with 360 degree views of Himalayan peak. This combination of pretty villages and terraced fields of millet and rice, majestic splendor of Machhapuchre (6,993m), Annapurna south (7,200m), Annapurna I(8,091m) and Hiunchuli (6,441m) make this an extremely rewarding trek. On our way back we pass Chhomrong and cross to the eastern banks of the Modi Khola.
