Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking

Day to Day Itinerary (Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking)

Day 1: Arrive In Kathmandu overnight in Hotel

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley
Half day sightseeing around Kathmandu, Patan city where you will have time to fascinating Buddhist and Hindu temples and shrines reflecting ancient local tradition are highlighted on my guided tour. There’s time to explore the city’s many charms on your own or take a rest while I finalize trekking area permits. In the evening delicious traditional Nepali well come dinner await for you. overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Kathmandu - Pokhara
Today we drive to Pokhara (200km), approximately 7 hours away by tourist bus. We will see good scenery of countryside while driving. We will be arriving late afternoon at Pokhara around 2:00 o’clock. Pokhara is an enchanting Himalayan Valley of remarkable beauty. We can explore its scenic land on bicycle/on foot or as your own like boating in Fewa Lake over looking the region of Annapurna Himalayan ranges. In the evening prepare for the trek overnight in Pokhra

Day 4: Pokhara – Tikhe Dhunga (1491 m.)
After breakfast in the morning we drive to Nayapul (48 km.) 1.5 hr by vehicle over via hilly ridges of Lumle/kande and walk about 20 minutes to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town. Beyond a pasture used by pony caravans, the trail reaches Sudami where we have Lunch. After lunch climb steadily up the side of the valley, reaching Hile at 1495m. near by Tikhedhunga. Along the way various hamlets offer ample camping possibilities but if Gorepani is the objective for the next day it is better to push to Tikhe Dhunga. overnight at Tihke Dhunga.

Day 5: Tikhe Dhunga – Ghorepani (2848 m.)
Breakfast served in the morning around 7:am. From Tikhedhunga the trail crosses a stream (Bhurungdi Khola) on a suspension bridge to start the long steep climb to the large Magar village Ulleri at 2070m. Above the village where the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. There are magnificent rhododendron and oak forest. Lunch spot in Nangethanti. Thanti is a Nepali words meaning “rest house”. In the winter the trail can be covered with show. From Nangethanti about one hours walking to Ghorepani at 2848m. Arrive at the top of the Ghorepani pass and camp there. overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 6: Ghorepani – Poon Hill - Tadapani
We will wake up early morning to hike up to the famed vantage point of Poon Hill excursion at 5 AM. You can hear the sounds of trekker preparing for the pre-dawn assault on Poon Hill. The journey climb to Poon Hill (3195 m.) takes around 45minutes. As the sun rises, the views are literally breathtaking, a wide Himalayan panorama stretching from Dhaulagiri 8167m. (the world's seventh highest peak) to Manaslu 8156m (the world's eighth highest peak) in the east, with the mighty Annapurna range in between them. Then we will return to our camp and time for breakfast. The first part is climbing along the ridges of the hills in pine and rhododendron forest to a top 3030 meters then descend to at a second pass also called Deurali. The steep descent becomes gentle way to reaches Banthanti where we will stop for Lunch. From Banthanti the trail follow the stream down to a bridge where the trails start climbing to Tadapani (2540 meters) that offers a brief view of the mountains. Tadapani means, “Far water”. The village water supply is a long distance; it takes porters more than an hour to fetch a load of water. overnigt at Tadapani.

Day 7: Tadapani - Landruk
It takes about 6 hours. From Tadapani, the trails descend through the forests then terraced fields, to the Khummr Khola. The Ghandruk trail descends steeply from Tadapani, through the forest of different species of trees & rhododendrons. We will stop for lunch at Ghandruk. Ghandrung (1919 m.) it is the most interesting tribal Gurung village in Nepal, which has provided Gorkha soldiers. It has excellent close -up views of Annapurna South, Machhapurchhe and Himachuli. There is an ACAP office that provides information about its activities. From Ghandruk the trails leads all the way down to Modi Khola then climb to Landruk also a Gurung villageat 1550 meters. Stay overnight. overnight at Landruk.

Day 8: Landruk - Pokhara
From Landruk, it’s an easy walk on flat fiends, and descends to Tolka a small settlement at 1,710 meters, with several lodges along the trails. Now the trail climbs through the forests and after crossing a stream on suspension bridge at 1690 metres, the trail climbs Bheri Kharka. Again the trail climbs through forests to a clearing on the top of the hill at 2010 meters, where there are views of mountains can be se from Deurli and break for lunch. From Deurli, all the way is downhill to Dhampus at 1580 meters about two and half an hour via Pokhana. At Dhampus, you are rewards with great views of the mountains. From Dhampus, all the way steeply downhill through the village to Phedi at 1080 meters takes about 2 hours from we catch vehicles to drive to Pokhara.

Day 9: Pokhara - Kathmandu
From Pokhara the tourist buss leave early morning to Kthmandu. It takes same hours that take from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Still you will have a time for walking around Kathnaudu or shopping.

Day 10: Departure to home
