Introduction:
Singu Chuli is also known as Fluted Peak. The mountain can be seen from the Annapurna South Base Camp, but the true shape of the mountain, with its pointed ridge of snow and ice is seen from the moraines above the lodge. The normal ascent route is the north-east face. We first follow the standard trekking trail to Machhapuchhre Base Camp, then cross the South Annapurna Glacier and its moraines to reach grassy meadows which can be used as Base Camp, at 4200m. From there we climb the glacier northwards to reach a ridge where we will set up a high camp, at 4900m. From this camp we continue climbing, between the glacier and the flank of the mountain, to reach a plateau below the north-east face. Here we will set up camp at 5600m, below the center of the face. We now climb towards the right side of the face to reach a 120m vertical wall which we overcome by taking a gully on the left. We then climb steep steps to gain the upper section of the east ridge which we follow to the summit.
