Tibet: 23d Mt. Kailash via Simikot

  • Easy
  • 6,656 M

It is said that Mount Kailash, also known as the Holy Mountain, is the apex of the Hindu religion. And it is the axis, which is also one of the highest mountains in Tibet at 6,700 meters. And Lake Manasarovar stands at 4,556 meters above mean sea level, making it the highest fresh-water lake in the world. Both of these mountains are located in Tibet. Undoubtedly, a challenging place to access because of the harsh and unpredictable weather conditions. Holy Mountain can be found in a portion of the Tibetan Himalayas. It knows for being exceptionally inaccessible and unforgiving.

There are a few modern conveniences available to the pilgrims in order to make their devotions easier. Such as benches, resting areas, and refreshment kiosks. Following a custom that dates back thousands of years, hundreds of thousands of people travel to Mount Kailash on a pilgrimage each year. Pilgrims of many different religions think that performing a holy rite on foot while circumambulating Mt. Kailash (also known as the Holy Mountain) will bring them good fortune. Both Buddhists and Hindus complete their journey around the holy land in a clockwise direction. The journey around Mount Kailash, also known as the Holy Mountain, is 52 kilometers (32 miles) long.
