Hemis to Darcha trek in India

Hemis is a village that lies in the Leh district of the Ladakh region. It is located at a distance of 40km to the southeast direction in Kharu Tehsil of Leh town. It is well known for Hemis Monastery. That is Estabilished in 1672AD by King Sengge Namgyal.

Similarly, Darcha (Dartse) is a village that lies on the Bhaga River in Lahaul Region. This village is the permanent settlement in the Northernmost area of Himachal Pradesh next to the Manali-Leh highway.

Hemis to Darcha is not much frequented but a wonderful trekking route. During this trek, you can sight altogether different landscapes lying in a prohibited area. From Dat, it passes through high Tibetan plateaus. Around 4000 m., nomads live in the Rupshu area. The trip starts with the flight from Delhi to Leh.

  • Day 1: Arrival and transfer to hotel, o/n in a hotel

  • Day 2: Early morning transfer to airport for fly to Leh, o/n in a hotel

  • Day 3-4: Sightseeing around in Leh, Visit Buddhist monasteries Shey, Thiksey, Hemis,Likkir ,Alchi and Stok Monastery, and Shanti stupa, o/n in a hotel

  • Day 5: Drive from Leh to Hemis,o/n in camp

  • Day 6: Trek to Shang ( 3hrs) o/n in camp

  • Day 7: Trek to Latza Kongmaru ( 4800 m,7hrs) o/n in camp

  • Day 8: Trek to Kongmaru La ( 5150 m,7/8hrs) o/n in camp

  • Day 9: Trek to Sorra via Zalung Karpo La ( 5200m) (4200m, 7hrs) o/n in camp

  • Day 10: Trek to Dat ( 4200 m,5hrs.) o/n in camp

  • Day 11: Trek to yar La ( 4400 m,6hrs) o/n in camp

  • Day 12: Trek to Lun ( 4550 m,6hrs) o/n incamp

  • Day 13: Lun to Takh via Marang La ( 5300 m.) (4300m,7 hrs) o/n in camp

  • Day 14-16: Trek to Darcha via Barlacha La ( 4650 m) o/n in camp

  • Day 17: Drive to Manali (2000m,6hrs) o/n in a hotel

  • Day 18: Sightseeing in Manali and in the evening, overnight bus to Delhi (It is also possible to fly to Delhi from Kulu, about an hour drive from Manali)

  • Day 19: Arrive Delhi in the late morning, sightseeing around in Delhi o/n in a hotel

  • Day 20: Transfer to international airport in Delhi
