Ghorepani Poon hill lies in the Annapurna region, on the western side of Nepal. It is a popular destination among national and international trekkers. It is best known for its beautiful sunrise and panoramic mountain views that you can witness from Poon hill. During the Ghorepani Poon hill Trek, you will climb around 3000 stone stairs. In this short trek, you will reach a maximum altitude of 3,210 meters. You will travel through the charming villages of Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Ghandruk. Likewise, you will travel through the rhododendron forests. If you are trekking during the springtime (March to April), you will witness the rhododendron forests in full bloom. Aside from the sunrise view from Poon hill, you can also observe beautiful sunrise and sunset views from Tadapani village. The majority of locals living in this region belong to the Gurung and Magar communities. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek  Route

You will take a short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul from where your trek will begin. You will walk along Modi stream and reach Birethanti village where you will come across many charming tea shops and guest houses. You will continue to head upwards until you reach Ulleri (2,073 meters). The day’s trek will end after you reach Ulleri. 

The next day you will gently climb the trail through pastures and terraced fields. Then you will travel through the forest of rhododendrons and oaks. You will continue to walk on the trail and reach Ghorepani (2,848 meters). You will stay overnight at Ghorepani. Early in the morning, you will take an excursion to Poonhill (3,210 meters). You will climb the stairs to reach the viewpoint. There you can witness the beautiful sunrise with a mountain view of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Himchuli, Dhaulagiri, and others on the backdrop. 

After witnessing the sunrise, it is now time to move to our next destination, Tadapani (2,540 meters). For the first part, you will climb up the hills through the rhododendron and pine forests. You will then descend to Banthanti and again start climbing to reach the Tadapani village. We will stay there overnight.

The ascending part has ended and now you will descend through the forests and terraced field to reach the Ghandruk village (1,919 meters). While Gandruk is famous for its homestay, we will descend a little further and stay overnight at Landruk (1,646 meters). After Landruk, it is an easy walk. You will continue walking to the village of Phedi (1,080 meters) where your trek will come to an end. After this, you will drive back to Pokhara which is a 2 hours drive.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a moderately easy trek and even beginners can join. It does not take much physical toll but you still have to ascend and descend on varied terrain. You will have to climb around 3000 stairs during the trek. The highest altitude you will reach during the trek is 3,210 meters. Day to day schedule to Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking Nepal

  • Day 1: Arrive In Kathmandu o/n in a hotel (+D)

    Arrival & pick up from the international airport in Kathmandu after some refreshment we will invite you for a traditional Nepali dinner.

  • Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley o/n in a hotel (+B

    Half day sightseeing around in Kathmandu valley, where you will have time to fascinating Buddhist and Hindu temples and shrines reflecting ancient local tradition are highlighted on by guided tour. There’s time to explore the city’s many charms on your own or take a rest while we finalize trekking permits.

  • Day 3: Kathmandu - Pokhara o/n in a hotel (+B)

    This day we drive to Pokhara (200km), approximately 7 hours away by tourist bus. We will see good scenery of countryside while driving. We will be arriving late afternoon at Pokhara around 2:00 p.m, Pokhara is an enchanting Himalayan Valley of remarkable beauty. We can explore its scenic land on bicycle/on foot or as your own like boating in Fewa Lake over looking the region of Annapurna Himalayan ranges. In the evening prepare for the trek overnight in Pokhara.

  • Day 04: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ulleri( 2hrs drive and 3/4 hrs trek, 2073m.) o/n in lodge +B+L+D

    From Pokhara take a short drive to trek starting point Nayapul then walk along the Modi stream, we reach Birethanti – a beautiful village that has plenty of tea shops and guest houses. We then follow the left route through the village. Our trek will continue heading to Ulleri following the bank of the Burungdi stream. We climb slightly up to the valley of Hile (1495 meters) and Tikhedhunga (1525 meters). The trail leads steeply up to Ulleri (2073 meters), a large beautiful Magar village, through the stone slabs. Generally, today’s trek offers you a memorable experience of trekking in Nepal.

  • Day 5: Ulleri to Ghorepani (6/7hrs, 2848 m.) o/n in lodge +B+L+D

    This day, from the village the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. There are magnificent rhododendron and oak forest. Lunch spot in Nangethanti. Thanti is a Nepali word meaning “rest house”. In the winter the trail can be covered with snow. From Nangethanti about one hour walking to Ghorepani at 2848m. Arrive at the top of the Ghorepani pass and camp there. overnight in Ghorepani.

  • Day 6: Ghorepani – Poon Hill - Tadapani (5/6 hrs, 2540m) o/n in lodge (B+L+D)

    We will wake up early morning to hike up to the famed vantage point of Poon Hill excursion at 5 AM. You can hear the sounds of all tourists preparing for the pre-dawn assault on Poon Hill. The journey climb to Poon Hill (3210m.) takes around 45minutes. As the sun rises, the views are literally breathtaking, a wide Himalayan panorama stretching from Dhaulagiri 8167m. (the world’s seventh highest peak) to Manaslu 8156m (the world’s eighth highest peak) in the east, with the mighty Annapurna range in between them. Then we will return to our camp and time for breakfast. The first part is climbing along the ridges of the hills in pine and rhododendron forest to a top 3030 meters then descend to at a second pass also called Deurali. The steep descent becomes gentle way to reaches Banthanti where we will stop for Lunch. From Banthanti the trail follow the stream down to a bridge where the trails start climbing to Tadapani (2540 meters) that offers a brief view of the mountains. Tadapani means, “Far water”. The village water supply is a long distance; it takes porters more than an hour to fetch a load of water. overnigt at Tadapani.

  • Day 7: Tadapani - Landruk (5/6 hrs, 1646m) o/n in lodge (B+L+D)

    It takes about 6 hours. From Tadapani, the trails descend through the forests then terraced fields, to the Khummr Khola. The Ghandruk trail descends steeply from Tadapani, through the forest of different species of trees & rhododendrons. We will stop for lunch at Ghandruk. Ghandrung (1919 m.) it is the most interesting tribal Gurung village in Nepal, which has provided Gorkha soldiers. It has excellent close -up views of Annapurna South, Machhapurchhe and Himachuli. There is an ACAP office that provides information about its activities. From Ghandruk the trails leads all the way down to Modi Khola then climb to Landruk also a Gurung villageat 1646 meters. Stay overnight. overnight at Landruk.

  • Day 8: Landruk - Pokhara o/n in hotel (B+L)

    From Landruk, it’s an easy walk on flat fields, and descends to Tolka a small settlement at 1,710 meters, with several lodges along the trails. Now the trail climbs through the forests and after crossing a stream on a suspension bridge at 1690 meters, the trail climbs Bheri Kharka. Again the trail climbs through forests to a clearing on the top of the hill at 2010 meters, where there are views of mountains that can be seen from Deurli and break for lunch. From Deurali, all the way is downhill to Dhampus at 1580 meters about two and half an hour via Pothana. At Dhampus, you are rewarded with great views of the mountains. From Dhampus, all the way steeply downhill through the village to Phedi at 1080 meters takes about 2 hours from we catch vehicles to drive to Pokhara.

  • Day 9: Pokhara - Kathmandu o/n in a hotel (+B)

    From Pokhara the tourist buss leave early morning to Kathmandu. It takes 6/7 hours from Pokhara to Kathmandu . Still you will have a time for walking around Kathnaudu or shopping.

  • Day 10: Transfer to international airport (+B)
